I am a solicitor specialising in charity law and governance.
I am one of the founder members of UKRAA and came to radio astronomy from optical astronomy, driven by an interest in electronics and making things.
I like to think ‘outside of the box’ and enjoy solving problems. I hold UK and US amateur radio licences (M0LUT and K2LUT).
Physicist, worked on transistor fabrication, reliability, failure mechanisms and testing as a senior engineer at BT Reseach Labs. Pretending to be an Electronic Engineer for most of the time.
Final years before retirement were as a Director of a Radio Engineering company.
Interests are amateur radio and Low Frequency propagation, and is a member of the RSGB Propagation Studies Committee.
Passionately interested in all things scientific particularly if they involve electronics.
Electronic engineer, now working in the design of security systems.
Astronomy interests, a desire to understand the processes, with a wish to build and adapt equipment to suit observing requirements
Other interests include, Hill walking and Scouting.
My long standing interest in astronomy was re-energised when I discovered amateur radio astronomy. I enjoy building the instruments needed for making observations, currently VLF and occasionally meteors.
Electronics and astronomy have always been my favourite hobbies and following retirement after a career lecturing in healthcare technology at Nottingham University I have rekindled these interests.
A presentation at my local astronomy club by a leading researcher from Jodrell Bank made me realise how accessible radio astronomy could be to the amateur, whilst combining two of my passions!
I spent 28 years in Primary Education with the majority of this time as a Deputy Headteacher. I then moved to Stansted Airport working in several departments.
I became Flight Analysis Manager which included an invitation to Boeing 737 Aircraft Factory, Renton, Seattle, assisting in developing a solution to the aircraft power receptacle and finally moving once more to become Environment Standards Manager which included setting up the airport wide Waste and Recycling strategy with zero waste to landfill. Now retired and focusing on Photography and Astronomy.
